FAQ

Where to go from where?

You may start your tour from any destination first (such as Darjeeling, Gangtok or Pelling) as per your convenience and availability of hotels. Please note: Darjeeling is nearest to NJP or Bagdogra so if you have early train or flight then Darjeeling as last destination makes more sense.

If you desire not to visit any of the stations, accordingly you can remove the same from your route mentioned below.

Option 1:
Bagdogra / NJP – Pelling – Gangtok (via Namchi if time permits) – Lachung/Lachen – Gangtok – Kalimpong – (White Water Rafting is possible here at Melli if time permits) – Darjeeling – Mirik via Pasupati Market on Nepal border - Bagdogra / NJP
Option 2:
Bagdogra / NJP – Darjeeling (via Mirik & Pasupati Market on Nepal border if time permits) – (White Water Rafting is possible here at Melli if time permits) - Gangtok – Lachung/Lachen – Gangtok – Pelling – Bagdogra / NJP
Option 3:
Bagdogra / NJP – (White Water Rafting is possible here at Melli if time permits) - Gangtok – Lachung/Lachen – Gangtok – Pelling – Darjeeling – Mirik via Pasupati Market on Nepal border – Bagdogra / NJP
Option 4:
Bagdogra / NJP – Darjeeling (via Mirik & Pasupati Market on Nepal border if time permits) – Pelling – Gangtok – Lachung/Lachen – Gangtok – (White Water Rafting is possible here at Melli if time permits)- Bagdogra / NJP

Can we go directly to Lachung / Lachen from Siliguri / Bagdogra / Darjeeling or Pelling?

No, unless you are ready to travel around 10-11 hours at a stretch that too on a ‘not so smooth’ North Sikkim highway, secondly you need to get your permits made through your hotel or your travel agent / tour operator at Gangtok. Hence you need to plan your trip to Lachung/Lachen from Gangtok and come back to Gangtok. This applies for both ways.

You also come across some relaxing waterfalls on the way which you must enjoy while travelling.

Do I require an AC vehicle in Sikkim?

Not really, the weather throughout the year is quite pleasant, in other words it is not hot. During summers you might feel little warm when you are traveling from plains of West Bengal to the hill for a short time of around 1 hour or so, after this you will be quite comfortable.
